Biluochun - Formosa Green Tea
Biluochun is a true green tea: unoxidized and finished within a few hours of being picked in the fields.
The dry leaf of this delicate exquisite green tea is redolent of toasted nori with notes of herbaceous freshness. Taiwanese Biluochun is harvested in early spring every year in the hills and river valleys of Sanxia.
Only fresh buds and tender young leaves are used. Savor the gentle and soothing quality of this classic Chinese green, and brew with lower than average water temperature to preserve its unique flavors and healthful components.
Insulation from direct sun and air is important to prevent further oxidation and loss of its unique flavors.
Great for: cold brew, all-day sipping, lovers of fine greens and healthy living
Flavors: soft vegetal and nori flavors, hints of papaya and roasted chestnuts
Recommended Vessels: Glass, glazed porcelain pots or gaiwans. Avoid porous or unglazed vessels, which tend to absorb the floral fragrance.
Brew temperature: 180°
Brew Time: 90 seconds to 7 minutes
The dry leaf of this tea is redolent of toasted nori with notes of fresh grass.
The brewed leaf has a very elegant floral nose and flavor, and a sweet lingering finish.
This tea must be brewed much cooler than most teas; and it can and should be brewed longer. Second or third steepings can brew for as long as 7 minutes.
The liquor is very, very pale. Don't judge the brew by color, but by nose and palate.
